It's the final countdown!

okay.
1.  I HIT MY 9 MONTH MARK IN 2 DAYS WHAT IN THE WORLD I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!!  time literally FLIES.  so yes.  it's the final countdown for me and sister ratunuman to eat everythign we can before we start Sister rowntree's 9 months to fabulous hahaha.  we usually wake up at 6:30 as usual and we excersise.  but on the 26th until forever we're going to wake up at 6 and we are gonna WORK IT!!  usually for breakfast we eat really bad... haha..... like... i cant cook here, our stove had been broken for like 3 weeks anyways so we couldnt make our instant mie (ramen)  ((we shouldnt be eating that for breakfast anways..)  so we eat rolls,  or this guy comes by our house selling fried food and yummy pastery indonesiany thingys.... so not good ahhahaha but theyre delicious.  NO MORE.  we are gonna boil eggs (we fixed the stove)  and make oatmeal (yes they have quakers, its expensive)  and we will use the weird indonesian milk that they sell hahaha.  the milk is like powder and then i think they use water or something and pt it in a containeer, it's clean, but like, its not real milk, i think my bones are withering away. but its coconut flavored so its really good!
2.  Our miracle contact came to church again, there was a baptism,, she cdame and watched, she said she felt the spirit,  but... she says, she watnts the spirit to speak to her  i thnk shes expecting like, the buring bush that moses saw... -___- she has an interview for thrusday or frieday please pray for her.  i knw she knows she needs to get baptized.
3. I can handle rejection now.  i used to get so sad, and lose hope,  we met this way cute family, they are not christian.  yesterday we show up and the moms like, i'm sorry but theres no way 'm going to come to your church, we have our own beliefs, which is fine, but hten she asked, what even is your message?  (holding the plan of salvation pamflet which was her homeowkr)  so we started with a prayer.    even tho she rejected us, we were able to teach up until the atonement of jesus christ.   every time we teach about christ ad what he did for us the spirit is so strong.  so so strong.  we just open our months and speak of truth, and the spirit does the rest,  i know that no effort is wasted maybe in a year or 3 years or 10 she will see missionaries again and remember what she felt from her lesson with me and sister ratunuman and she'll wonder... i wonder what the rest of the lesson was like, whats the end?    There is no end, there's eternal life with our families and I know it's only through Jesus Christ we can be happy.
I know that Christ lives,  i know his church was restored through the prophet joseph smith, I know that President Thomas S. Monson is Gods living prophet today.  What a beautiful time to be alive, to live in the dispensation of fulness of times.  I am so grateful to be here. I've learned so much on the mission... and i have sooooo much more to learn, i can feel myself changing, and I hope I am becoming the person Heavenly Father wants me to be.  Remember, when times get tough, when you feel lke giving up, remember He's been there before. YOur Savior has felt everything.  He's waiting, and reaching out for you.   Have a nice week, try to serve someone today, forget about yourself, you will feel better I promise!
Love Sister Rowntree

Asalamalaikum.

I really don't know what to say in this email, i've tried to think hard, it's been a usual week.  we have found 7 new investigators, one family that's not christian are allowing us to teach them the plan of salvation!!  It's so cool to learn about their religion too, i've learned so many new arabic words this week.
alhamduillah - giving thanks to god.
subhallah- you say it when you see something pretty like something pretty in nature
asalamalaikum - greetings
wa'alaikumsalam- you say back ^
SO COOL i love the culture here, the people are just beautiful.
did i tell you guys that i gave a talk last sunday? my first one in indonesia.  I talked too long and poor elder nordwald couldnt give his lol whoops. but he gave one yesterday it was great.
oh also, i want to update yall on our most progressing investigator... the MIRACLE CONTACT taht we had our first week in malang after jakarrta when we were lost and we couldnt find her and find her, from yesterday, she has gone to church for a month!!  it's so great!!  we have really seen a change in her and she herself said that she's changed. we had a lesson with a member who was also a convert and our investigator said this,  "yeah, when the sisters first got here, i was hard on them like, who is this joseph smith, what is this book of mormon."  me and sister ratu looked at each other like... UHHH YA YOU WERE hahahaha  and then she said, "but the spirit told me to give the book a chance.  "  i asked her before if she beleived the book of mormon was true, and she said, "yes why do you keep asking me that???  and joseph smith wouldnt of been able to translate it if he wasnt insprired by god!"  I'm not asking her again ahahahah i think she has a testimony, i just wanted to make sure, but her heart really has softened!  we are really trying to push her to be bpatized at the end of this month.... but she keeps saying she hasnt gotten her answer yet, please pray for her, i know she is ready.  oh yeah, she's finally calling Allah (god), Bapa Surgawi (Heavenly Father)  ((':
we had such a miracle on sunday.  Our investigator who is not christian CAME. TO. CHURHC.  i literally cried, we were waitin goutside the church waiting for our miracle contact investigator to come. the meeting had already started...  and we looked and saw this cute lady wearing her hiljab walk past and look through the gate... we looked again adn we're like OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! and we ran as fast as we could to give her a hug and welcome her into church.. she was soooooo nervous, we had to sit outside for like 3 minutes trying to get her to come into the sacrament room.  i dont blame her! she's never been to church before!  but she said she had fun, and i know little by little she will start building her faith in our savior!
I wish i had more to say!  I know this church is true, i know that it was restored through the prophet joseph smith.  He went through so much for us, I am so grateful for the restoration, for the knowledge that my family can be together forever, I'm so grateful for my savior.  I now he died for me,  I know he's always with me, I love my heavenly father so very much, and i know he's so very aware of each of his children.  I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve god's beautiful children here in malang.  I'm learning so much everyday. have a great week!

777 (mom's note: I have no clue what she meant by this)

HALLO KELUARGAKU DAN TEMANKU KABARNYAAA?

SHOUT OUT TO THE BEST MOM EVER HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOOOM

I can't believe it's PDAY again... this last week FLEW BY literally
flew by.  It's been so fun and tiring and awesome and we've had some
miracles

1.  monday we went and eat cobra and drank blood again ahahhahha 2
times the charm, and we went to this cool hindu temple.  IT WAS LIKE 5
MILES AWAY THO, AND WE HAD TO FOLLOW THE ELDERS AND THE ELDERS SPRINT
LIKE IT'S CHRISTMAS AND I STILL HAVENT RECOVERED.

2. WE GOT NEW BIKES!!!!  thank goodness,  thats why i died going to
the hindu temple cuz our bikes we're awful,  so me and sister
ratunuman have come up with new songs to show our gratitude for
beautiful new bikes.  "I've got sunshiiinnne on a cloudy dayyy, when
it's cold out sideeee blah blah blahh... i.... guess.... you'd...
say.,... something something feel this way, MY BIKE.  MY BIKE MY
BIKEEE, TAlking bout... MY BIIIIKKEEE"
Also.
"You see us rollin.... we preachin..... proclaiming the gospel of
Jesus Christ"  (just imagine us all sweaty on sweet beautiful bikes,
wearing sunglasses or something rapping)
also,  "There;s always gonna be another mountain, i'm always goinna
wanna make it mooove, always gonan be an uphill battle etc......  it's
my bIIIIKKKKKKEEEE"
we are so funny.  you just had to be there.

3. last week i forgot to share this story,  one day,  i was like, ugh.
i love pangsit mie, it's os good (this noodle stuff)  i could eat it 3
times a day.  little did i know WE LITERALLY WERE FORCED TO EAT IT
LIKE 4 TIMES THAT DAY  every person we visited fed us pangsit mie we
were STUFFED.  i think i gained 2 kilos that day wadu.

4. our miracle contact from a month ago, who's been coming to
church.... 1. came to chruch again by herself, and 2. WE INVITED HER
TO BE BAPTIZEd!!!!  so she's like, ya. ya. if i get an answer to my
prayer.  i already know she has an answer but hse wants to be sure,
the next time we saw her shes like.  "last night, iwoke up in the
middle of the night and openeed the book of mormon to alma,  it was
talking about baptism."  sister ratu and i just looked at her like..
girlfriend.  HELLO THATS YOUR ANSWER hahaha , it's okay it's all in
the lords time i know the spirit will tel lher this message is true.

5.  We are still teaching our ibu who is not Christian.  we watched
finding faith in christ with her,  it was so amazing. it was literally
the first time she'd seen christ perform his miracles and actually
have an idea of what he looked like how he walked and talked and
taught and how amazing He was.  When he first came on the screen,
she's like "siapa."  (who is that?)  we told her it was Jesus Christ,
"Oh, gantang ya?"  (he's handsome ya?) ahahahha it was so funny,  but
the best was after we finsihed the movie.  she said "why did jesus
have to be cruciefied? why couldn't he save himself??  if he's god, if
he's powerful why couldn't he help himself?"  sister ratunuman had
the most perfect answer.  "He could've saved himself, he is powerful,
he is the son of god.  but we needed someone to save us."  my heart
has been so touched this week, the spirit was so strong and i hope ibu
felt something and she will start to develope faith in ehr savior. <3

Last thing,  Sister Ratunuman pointed something out to me the other
day that I want to share iwth yall.  President monson is aging, he
can only speak for a few minutes at a time in conference.  we dont
know if last conference was his last! and what he wanted to share to
the world was about the power of the book of mormon.  he promises we
will be able to overcome temptations, we will come closer to jesus
christ, if we read the book of mormon.  a prophet of god testified of
the importance to read it everyday. i invite you all to read just a
little of the book of mormon every day. i know it will change your
life.  when we asked our miracle contact if she knew the book of
mormon was true she said, "of course it's the word of god, this book
wouldn't have changed my life if it wasnt." isn't that powerful?  I
know it's true,  and i'm so grateful for this gospel.  I am so
grateful for the restoration, i know joseph smith is a prophet of god,
called to restore all things for us, i know christ is the son of god
and this is his church and it is only through his church that we can
return to Heavenly father.  I love you all, have a great week!

Don't cry, it'll be alright...

yes.  Sister Rowntree has seen Harry Styles new music video.
IT PLAYS EVERYDAY IN THE INDOMARET'S HERE!!!! (convienent store)  IT'S BEAUTIFUL, HE'S SO GLORIOUS FLYING IN THE AREA OH MY GOODNESS. the first time i saw it, i think sister rowntree left me, and fan girl Hannah came back. it was bad.  i swear i'm still spiritual (;
WOAH HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA. i really miss barbaque.  oh ya.  Sister Ratunuman and I are letting go until I hit my half way mark on the 26th.  So then we will start our 9 months to fabulous. usually missionaries do 6 months to fab, but i've let myself go.... way too much... hahah so when i hit 9 months (which is insane i still feel new)  NO MORE RICE OR MIE OR BREAD, and we are gonna exercise SO HARD.  until we are fabulouuusss.

We worked SO HARD this week! Missionary work is the hardest, most humbling and rewarding experience.  We had 3 investigators come to church this week!!!!!!  i've never had that happen before on the mish,  getting our miracle contact to church was soooo crazy, we had to ask someone last minute to follow us to her house (which is like 10 minutes by motorcycle,) but we are on bikes!  SO WE SPED WITH ALL OF OUR MIGHT TO GET TO HER SO WE WERENT LATE FOR CHURCH. she wasnt late, we were late.  and thus DRENCHED IN SWEAT for sacrament meeting, wadu.  hopefully this week it will go more smoothly hahaha
one of our investigators that came is new, we've only taught her twice, she is a doll, she's going to jakarta for a week so hopefully in 2 weeks we will teach her again.  our last lesson with her ended in laughter.  so, it's fast sunday ya?  sister ratu and i had to start our fast at like 1:30 saturday before our appointment with her at 2.  so we go to indomaret (no there was no harry styles to distract me, thank goodness) and we DOWN LIKE 3 WATER BOTTLES,  it's hot in Indonesia we gotta survive here.  then, we have our lesson, and our investigator brought some little mint candies for us, so not even thinking sister ratu and i start snacking on them.......  at the end of the lesson we're like "woah, does anybody know hwere i bathroom is we have to pee so bad!!!"  (we had 2 members present at the lesson both RM's)  they're like, "uhhh w'ere not sure"  "why do you have to pee so bad??"  literally in the middle of the sentence sister rat goes, "we have to pee so bad bc we drank so much water cuz we're-" *dramatic pause* we both dropped our mints and looked at each other with wide eyes with candy all up in our teeth,  "FASTING!!!!!!!!!"  we literally dropped to the ground and died laughing oh my goodness you just had to be there maybe this isnt funny to yall but it was hilarious i alsmot peed my pants!!!!  one of the RM's was like "wow.. the struggle of being a missionary.." ahahhahaha  ohhh my goondess, I lvoe my companion so much she's the best.
I've learned a lot about gratitude this week. In america, espceially in utah, i really took the gospel for granted.  Like, my church is literally 45 seconds away by car........ and i would always come up with excuses to not go to church like, oh, i'm tired, oh i'm sick,  oh i'm lazy.....  the people here, some people literally dont have enough money to get to church!  they sacrifice EVERYTHING to be able to partake of the sacrment.  It's so easy to forget what we have and not appreciate it.....
I was reading about the atonement this morning too.  I just want to cry thinking about how much our savior loves us, he loves us perfectly, and we cant do anything without him.  We are so imperfect, but he's always ready to help us come back to him.  How do you show your Gratitude for the atonement?    I hope by serving the lord's mission here in indonesia will show heavenly father how mjuch i love him and how grateful i am that he "so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son".   This gospel is true.
I know Christ lives, and i know He speaks to us through a living prophet.  OH YA.  we have a new investigator he is 9 years old,  and he asked us, "how do we follwo Jesus? Through an angel? or a prophet?"   we gave him the answer, we asked him if he believes Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet to day. he said "SERIBU PERSEN!"  Which means 1000% percent!  isn't it Christ that tells us to humble ourselves and become like children?  Meek, submissive, humble, patient and full of love?  This little child is so innocent and pure, and his honest desire to want to follow Jesus touched my heart.  I hope we all will have that desire like him. Christ has done is part for us, all he asks us to do is to follow him.  and we can do that by living the restored gospel of jesus christ.  Wow.  I love my Savior and I love Heavenly Father, and I'm so grateful for the mission, I'm learning so much here and I couldn't be happier.  Have a nice week! (:

Merry Christmas and a happy 4th of July!

Halo Keluarga dan temanku yang terkasih!  Minggu ini luar biasa!
okay let me first explain the title of my  email. so the month of June was Ramadan!  Where the people here fast for 30 days!!!  Ramadan has officially ended so now, there's this week called Hari Raya,  i'm not sure what it's translation is in english, but all i know is taht the people here treat it like it's CHRISTMAS ANNND the fourth of july at the same time!!!  our neighbors are turning up everynight ALL NGIHT LONG!!! holy cow it's so awesome, I'm so glad I got to see some fireworks this week. The people go jalan jalan or "vacation" and everyone gets presents andt heres FOOD EVERYWHERE  .  it's so great i'm really going to miss ramadan, every night the people would go to all the stads and just buy POUNDS of food for their opening of their fast, but now all the cool stands are goonna be gone )):  i love indonesian food ))))':  Ya, so, now IT'S SO EMPTY here in malang!! there are no cars anywhere there's no traffic cuz everyone's gone!! it's crazy.  or if we do find people, theyre not from malang hahaha , oh well.
actually the whole no car thing was such a problem for sunday we were going to leave our bikes at the church and go pick up our investigator with an angkot.... we woke up SO EARLY Just to make sure we wouldnt be late.... we get out the house.... THERES NO ANGKOTS AND ROADS ARE CLOSED. oh my goodness i almost died from stress hahaha, but it's okay bc OUR MIRACLE CONTACT FROM LAST WEEK CAME TO CHURCH!!!! <333 she is so cute, she had such a great time in church, the members here in malang are so great, i know embak felt comfortable and i hope she felt the spirit, we're going to see her again on wednesday and saturday with members!
we had a really really cool miracle this week too.  we're teaching someone who's not christian,  and we were discussing the plan of salvation with her,  while we were teaching about the atonement she had so many great questions, she asked "why did jesus have to be baptized if he was perfect?"  so we read a little bit from 2 ne 31, the spirit was so strong while we read from the book of mormon especially from alma 7: 11-13  we testified of christs love for us, and that it's only through him that we can return to heavenly father!  her eyes were watering, and we invited her to follow the example of jesus christ and be baptized, she said yes, if she finds out it's true!! it was so cool!  It's so so interesting being in a missionary in a country that doesn't know who Jesus Christ is, It's like we have to teach at primary level, i'm learing a lot too because /I/ have to be capable of explaining who our savior is simply to these beautiful people, it's such a privledge to serve here.  I love my savior so so much and i know the people of indonesia need what we have as membres of his church.
i am lovng life in malang, there are so many people tot alk to here, we're makng so many friends and even if theyr'e not our religion they always give us their christian friends as referals its so awesome ahha!  my companion is so great, she teaches me everyday about the pure love of christ, she is such a good example to me!  (especially when we had to teach a pendeta (preacher) of another church,  i wanted to be sassy,  but sister Ratu's example helped me overcome the natural sass ha)  maybe i'll tell that story next week, it's too long to type.  I know this Chruch is true, miracles happen everyday, Heavnely Father is so so good.  He loves us all so much, he loves us perfectly and so does his son!  We need not ever fear, they're waiting for us to come unto them.  I'm learning so much on my mission it's crazy,  I can feel myself becoming a more confident person, happier person because II know taht my savior lives and he loves me!  that's so special, and the people here in Indonesia need to feel the same way too!
Have a great week temanku (:
-Sister Rowntree

1)lol i didnt take pics this week oops here's the outside of our neighborhood

6)this is called es degan.  Or ice coconut, coconut is actually kepala in indonesian. i dont know waht degan is, but you literally drink straight from the coconut it is my favooooooooooorite thing to drink here in indonesia,  it's only like 4000 rupia which is like 30 cents in america T_____T  my life rules (:

So many miracles!

Mukjizat= Miracles
THIS WEEK.  WAS AMAZING.  WE HAD MIRACLES HAPPEN EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.  woah.  remember how i tolld yall i was so stressed about leading the area, and with my bahasa because i still couldnt understand the people here?  well guess what.   THE LORD HAS BLESSED ME YALL.  holy cow. holy cow.

miracle 1)   we meet this guy at a park named Mas Eko,  he's muslim, so we're like cool, no problem, maybe he will have a friend we can meet.  so we asked for a referal.  turns out, he did! her name was Embak Yandel.  He gave us her street address and told us to just go and ask ppl where it was.  (me and sister ratunuman STILL get lost everywhere)  but it's fine because we make so many friends with asking directions it's so fun.   SO.  a couple of days afterwards we try to find her.  we got lost,  this cute Bapak (older dad kinda guy) wanted to help us so he led us to that road.  we met another Bapak,  and he's  like "Here come and meet the Ibu RT" (a lady that knows where everyone lives.)  we meet her, she's like, I know all the Christians here, there is no Embak Yandel here sorry.  we were so sad, so we started eating at her resturant.   across the street we see this cute little lady,  my thought was "wow, i want to talk to her,  i think she might be from timur and hitam manis (black sweet((thats what indonesians call me everyday.  its so funny))  like me."  sister ratunuman thought "woah she looks like my sister we should talk to her"(btw sister ratunuman's parents are from indonesia she has a way cool story)
so we're both like, okay, lets go talk to her.   and if any of you have served a mission befor eyou know how akward it is to just go up to people and say hi ya???  ugh.  i always stress about it, but we were like WHATEVER LETS JUST GO WE THINK THIS IS THE SPIRIT TELLIN US TO TALK TO HER,  turns out.  before we even crossed the street the lady started smiling and waving at us!! we're like!!  THANK YOU HEAVENLY FATHER NOW IT WONT BE AKWARD YAY!!!     so we start talking to her, she was so excited when we told her we were serving the lord she's like "I AM TOO!! WOW SO NICE TO MEET YOU!!"  and then we ask for her name........  "Oh I'm Miss Yandel."  !!!!!!!!!!!  Sister Ratu and I just looked at each other iwth dropped mouths.  WE  FOUND EMBAK YANDEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!  IT WAS INSANE IT WAS SO INSANE BUT IT WAS THE SPIRIT AND IT WAS SO COOL.

so now she's our new investigator, we've taught her the restoration and she's still a bit iffy about the book of mormon, christians here freak out when they hear about the book of mormon hahaha it's so funny but also sad, but i know if she just softens her heart and actually reads the book for herself!  of course heavenly father will answer her prayers and tell her it is true through the holy ghost!!

miracle 2.  this was friday i think,  the elders met this muslim woman who has lived in idaho before!!! but because she lives with her mom we had to go find her house.  SHE LIVES IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!!!!  it took us forever to find her house and we had to climb SO MANY HILLS MY THIGHS WERE KILLING ME,  and her neighborhood is super.... not christian, so we kinda had to not tell people we were missionaries just to be safe hahah.  BUT WE FOUND HER HOUSE, AND HER STORY IS TOO LONG AND CRAZY TO WRITE DOWN, but she's our new investigator and her daughter that is still in america is a member!!!! WHAT!!! i know that when we teach her about God's plan for her and her family her heart will be touched ,  please pray for sister ratu and I we are still trying to figure out how to be better teachers!

i'm almost out of time, but.  ya there were just tons and tons and TONS of miracles this week.  We fasted last week as a zone for our investigators.  lol.  sister ratu and i had none.  so we fasted that we'd be able to find new investigators this week. you ownt even guess how many we found.

WE FOUND 13 NEW INVESTIGATORS THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  such a miracle!!!  i've never taught so many new people beofre in my life!! fasting is such a blessing it really does give us power from on high! wow!!! i know that it's all thanks to the lord, I asked President Rowley to bless me with strength to lead this new area and help my companion and to be able to understand the people here.  AND IT HAPPENED,  wow the Lord is so good to me.  I know this is His work though!  and we as missionaries are just tools in His hands.  It's crazy,  I can lead lessons now without freaking out or getting anxious, and when things dont go well (because this week we had plenty of rejections)  I dont get depressed or lose hope!   We just try again and look for someone else who is ready to here our message!  Priesthood blessings are so wonderful, I'm so grateful our church has Priesthood holders to bless the lives of god's children!

I"m just so happy now,  instead of waking up like "ugh. another day of rejection yay."  I wake up like "WOW ANOTHER DAY I CANT WAITT WOOOO!!!"  I am so so happy here in Malang, this city is beautiful, there are so many people to talk to here, we're making so many friends, the members are wonderful, Indonesia is the promise land!

I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is the Lord's church.  I konw he leads us through a living Prophet, and I'm so grateful for the sacrifice Joseph Smith made for us. I knw that Christ lives, I know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us more than we can even imagine, and everyday here as a missionary I learn so much more of my eternal worth.  I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, I'm so grateful for the hope I have through the atoning sacrifice of Christ's atonement.  life is so good.  have a good week and ask yourself how can you become closer to christ this week! (:
