Selemat Tahun Baru!

WOOOOOAH, I can't believe by the end of this week I'll be in Indonesia for a MONTH!  CRAZY!  GILA!

OH AND THANKS FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! 

Okay. I promised that I would give all of you more details about EVERYTHING.  

1. Indonesia is so beautiful, it's so green, it's so HOT, and the people are so amazing!  I've been so humbled here, in realizing how blessed I've been to be raised in America, with an abundance of food,  and WARM SHOWERS,  speaking of food..... EVERYTHING HERE IS FRIED I AM SO UNHEALTHY AND THEY DON'T HAVE NORMAL MILK HERE CUZ THE COWS ARE TOO SKINNY so I"m coming back in 16 months as a grandma.   The food is sooo good though, BUT IT'S SO SPICY I DIE EVERY TIME I GO TO A MEMBERS HOUSE AND THEY FEED ME SOMETHING SUSCPISIOUIS 

also, my english is terrible, and i don't have time to fix my mistakes so YA UDAH.

Speaking of bahasa, its coming along...  my companion's english is really good so everyone in our house speaks english to me.... and i still can't understand most people in indoneisa... so we'll see how things go when my Ibu leaves in 2 weeks and I get another Ibu.  (Ibu is mom in Indonesian, and since my companion (rekan) is my trainer I call her mom and I'm her child lol)  and ACTUALLY Sister Royalnce who lives in our house is my SISTER,  she was Sister Jatmiko's 2nd child.  hahaha sorry if that doesn't make sense.

OKAY OUR INVESTIGATORS, (Simpatisan)  We are teaching all the time, whether they're progressing simpatisan, or not,  or members (anggota)  or less active members, our goal each week is 15 pelajaran (lessons) a week!  So we're always on the go.

This week's miracle: HAN HAN CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OH MY GOODNESS, IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING,  BC NO ONE WANTS TO COME TO CHURCH.  He's been an investigator for 3-4 years AND HE'S FINALLY GETTING BAPTIZED ON JANUARY 15TH,  if he stops smoking.  He's 18.  (EVERYONE MALE IN INDONESIA SMOKES,  YOU SEE 8-12 YEAR OLDS SMOKING HERE IT'S SO SO SAD!!)  So Han Han is literally just a miracle and HE'S TAUGHT ME!  I've learned from him HOW SPECIAL and HOW MUCH WE MEAN to our Heavenly Father,  HE LOVES US SO SO MUCH.  And if we will just try to overcome the natural man by becoming Saints through our Savior's atonement WE CAN RETURN TO HIM AND BECOME LIKE HIM!!  3 Nephi 9:13-14  the Savior is LITERALLY PLEADING for us to just COME TO HIM, HIS ARM OF MERCY IS REACHING OUT TO US!! It's such a beautiful REALITY that we really CAN BECOME BETTER PEOPLE! IF WE JUST TRY!!!   Oh i love this gospel so much and I love how much I'm learning, I don't know if missionaries have new spiritual powers or something but I'm learning things like I've never before in my entire LIFE.  ESPECIALLY from the Book of Mormon,  the Book of Mormon answers the questions of my SOUL and when I feel like I have NO IDEA what I'm doing in a foreign country trying to bring people unto Christ,  I find comfort and peace in the Book of Mormon.  I'm so grateful for it and I know it's true!  I testify that the Book of Mormon really WILL bring you closer to Christ!

One quick miracle,  we went to visit a less active member apparently she's super stubborn and most missionaries have no luck with her.  So Sister Jatmiko is talking to her friend and I'm trying to understand and talk to Sister Hargtika... I COULD UNDERSTAND HER,  (she was talking relatively slow for me) BUT STILL, and she was SO SWEET and I was my crazy self, making her laugh and smile and ya know, just being a friend to her,  AND THEN, she wanted to see a picture of my family and I start showing her my pictures, and she's like,  ''Wow, you are so happy to be here, and you're so far away from your family, why are you so happy?"  AND BOOM THE SPIRIT'S LIKE "BARE YOUR TESTIMONY GIRL!" and I was like.  WOAH. OKAY!  I just told her that of course I'm happy!!!  I get to share this wonderful gospel to the people of indoneisa who REALLY NEED TO KNOW that families can be together FOREVER,  and then Sister Jatmiko starts baring her testimony too and I ended with Alma 5:26 and we invited her to FIND her testimony again!!  I LED A LESSON, WHAT, IN INDONESIAN!  MIRACLE!!! The spirit works with me in a way I never expected as a missionary,  If i'm obedient, and study my scriptures and rely on the Lord and just TRY MY BEST,  the Lord qualifies me in the very moment that I need it!!  WOW THIS CHURCH IS TRUE THE SCRIPTURES ARE TRUE AND OUR SAVIOR LOVES US!! HOW AWESOME!!!  Seriously, being a missionary rules, and I hope you all have a Christ centered week,  Seriously, we owe it to Him to think about Him everyday, He's done a lot for us!  I love you all!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Okay, I know I promised I'd email good this week.... but I spent all my time skyping my beautiful family.. so next week I PROMISE, I'll write an epistle and actually send pictures!!  I'll just tell you what the best Christmas present I received this week was.  Sister Jatmiko and I had plans to try to visit Ibu Desi and Ibu Lily and share a christmas mormon message, but all of a sudden Sister J was like... Let's go see Sister Leni first.  Sister Leni's son was there with his wife who isn't a member.  and it turns out His wife (Ibu Intan) has been WAITING for missionaries for forever!!  But no one has gone by to visit her!! and she WANTS TO GET BAPTIZED SO SISTER J AN D I WILL TEACH HER AGAIN ON SUNDAY AND SHE'LL PREPARE TO GET BAPTIZED FOR JANUARY 28TH!!!!! A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!  LOVE YOU ALL!!!  Merry Christmas!  The church is true, our Savior Jesus Christ lives and our Father in Heaven LOVES US! <3

No time to email again... 2nd week in Indonesia

YIKES, ONCE AGAIN I HAVE NO TIME TO EMAIL LOL SORRY

I will tell you one amazing miracle that happened this week,  

So we have two wards in bogor,  and ward 2 had a christmas party,  we tried to get all our investigators to come but there were excuses from ours.  BUT other missionaries in our district brought there's!  SO.  The Elders had two investigators named John and Jimmy,  they knew UVU and could speak some english!  But John asked me,  "Why do you even want to be here in Indonesia on a mission?"  (some back ground info)  My indoneisan is terrible and i can't understand ANYBODY in Indonesian.  Like, this past week I made a goal to open my mouth BUT I WAS TOO SCARED ALL WEEK!!!  Not good.  That's definitely satan putting doubts in my mind, i really need to work harder on that... BUT ANYWAYS.  All of a sudden, when John aske dme that question, all of my fear left me and i confidently bore my testimony!!  IT was simple but all I said were along the lines of " This gospel lmakes me so happy,  having the knowledge that I can be with my family for forever makes me HAPPY.  The people of Indoneisa NEED this message in their lives, they need to know they ahve a SAVIOR who DIED for them, who makes everything possible, and they need to know they have a Heavenly Father who LOVES them etc.."  usually wehen i speek bahasa i'm sooo slow and terrible, but in that moment Heavenly FAther gave me the strength I needed to bare my witness of Him and His Son to JOn and Jimmy.  

I know this work is real, and it's the most important thing I can do in my life.  I know the people of Indoneisa NEED this message of hope, I know, because without the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life I have NOTHING, i am NOTHING and I have nothing to hope for!!  If you don't know, COBA (try)  pray to your father in heaven for guidance, I promise he is there he is WAITNG FOR YOU TO COME UNTO CHRIST.

First week in INDONESIA!

HALO KELUARGA DAN TEMAN SAYA!!!

Okay, I only have 20 more minutes before this computer shuts off so I can't email every detail.

YES I have made it to Indonesia and I LOVE IT!!  it's amazing here and it's soooooooooo different!!  I was not expecting everything that I see and smell and hear ahaha!!  

Okay, so I'm in Bogor, which is 2 hours away from Jakarta without traffic... (there's always traffic)  OUR MISSION HOUSE IS SO NICE, we have a TOILET, but we can't flush toilet paper,  and we have a SHOWER,  try taking cold showers everyday y'all, it's fun (;

Bogor is actually one of the cooler cities here, it rains EVERYDAY and when it rains it POURS.  Hopefully I can get the pictures and videos up.......

MY COMPANION IS AMAZING. I love her so much.  Her name is Sister Jatmiko, she's from Solo Indonesia and she only has 5 more weeks here!! So I'll be getting a new trainer soon.  She's a literal angel and I hope I can learn so so much from her!!

It's hot here, I'm always sweating,  the people here are AMAZING, they're so sweet!!  I can't understand ANYTHING that ANYBODY is saying.  The struggle is real.  The members in Bogor are AMAZING.  They;'re so humble and faithful and they help us soooo much with our investigators.  I swear on my life I will never complain about going to church ever again, there's only one church here in Bogor with two wards, and some people live so far away they have to wake up at FOUR IN THE MORNING, to get to church on time at 8 or 10.  INSANE DEDICATION. but they know what this life is about.  Our every actions and thoughts should be centered on Christ.  Everything we have is because of our Loving Heavenly Father,  and all he asks us to do is to live like His Son.  I'm so grateful for my Savior,  the struggle is real here and it's been hard to adjust, but I know I can do this because I have a Savior who loves me and knows exactly what I'm feeling.  I'm just happy that I can testify about my Savior here, I may not understand a lot.... I may not be able to speak a lot of bahasa, but I can testify of Our Saviors love for us.  Which I think is awesome!
