Brain fart

Hello Keluarga dan temanku!!!  Saya sedang menulis syurat ini dengan alphasmartku yg baru!
THANKS MOM!

WADU sorry for the random email!!!  my alphasmart had a brain fart!!!

Monday: we slept because we were sick. My first cold on the mission!!  Not fun.
Tuesday: normal day #dayinthelife. Okay, I promised my mom I’d give yall a day in Sister Rowntree’s life, cuz once again I don’t have much to say in this email..
So… like I said last week, a normal day we wake up at 6:30, now I’m waking up around 6 or 6:15 to get some exercise in. For exersise I’m doing my classic blogilates (pop pilates) ((I printed out like 100 work outs from her website and brought them here))  and also we have a Kayla Itsines book to use too!
Next it’s time to get ready for the day,  here in malang we don’t have a shower head, we shower with a giant bucket and scoop with freezing cold water (malang is up in the mountains((when we go to surabaya for splits the water is SO WARM)))  soo we boil water every morning and night so we odnt die of freezing coldness.
We start planning around 7:45-8:15 sometimes it goes longer depending on how many people we are going to try to visit that day, or if we’re confused on our investigators needs we take forever to decide what to teach them. Then we study the scriptures, preach my gospel or anything for our invesetigators for an hour, and then another half hour we talk about our investigators again!  We really have to involve the Lord in everything we do or else we wont receive revelation for god’s children!
By 10:00am we are out the door til 8:30/9 at night!  Malang is a “cold” city, but it depends on the day.  Lately it’s been blazing hot, I have so many white sun spots on my face I’m strating to think I might have the michael jackson skin thing….  But at night,  it’s FREEZING.  Especially after sweating alllll day long by the time it’s night time the wind is out and I’m literally so cold.  Everyone asks, where’s your jacket are eyou crazy?!?!  And we’re just like.. uh…. Didn’t think we needed one in INDONESIA.  But it’s okay sometimes it feels sooo nice.  So yeah all day we’re either teaching, or trying to find someone to teach.  We ride our bikes all day long going up and down big hills (I best be lookin like beyonce when I get home I’m just sayin)  it’s super great.  I have no problems sleeping bc we work hard all day long I can fall asleep in no time.
And then at night we don’t have to plan at night cuz of the new schedule (well.. it’s normal now but in january it was a huge deal)  so we just get ready for bed, write in our journals, update the area book, I like to play the uke and sing or draw, it’s pretty chill.  And that’s pretty much it. (I hope you are pleased mother.).
Wednesday: AYYEEE HAPPY NINE MONTHS TO ME.  Also this day we had a rough lesson with our miracle contact ): she is not ready to get baptized YET, but I know she will,  I realized that day how serious our calling is… like heavenly father has left the salvation of his children in the hands of 18 19 AND 20 YEAR OLDS!!!  Wadu.  There’s so much responsibility in a missionaries life, I’m grateful for the challenges though, because they remind me that I literally cant do anything without the lord!
Friday: Normal day  #SisterRowntree’sFaves
I am OBSESSED witht this drink called STMJ: Susu (milk) Telor (egg) Madu (honey) and Jahi (giinger)  it’s marvelous and the guy who we buy it from on the way home (when it’s freezing) speaks english!  It’s a warm drink and I’ts heavenly.
Es Degan pakai susu dan Madu:  Coconut water straight from the coconut with milk and honey. Oh baby.  It’s the best (it’s like. 60 cents) easy money.
I used to be obsessed with indonesian oreos too but now I’m on 9 months to fab.  The oreos here are soo much better than the ones in america.

#cabe’s Cabe means pepper in indonesian. But indonesian peppers are TEN TIMES WORSE. Elder Subagio made a bet with me, if i eat 5 this week he buys me mcdonalds (cheat day) easy money, guess who's eating mcdonalds today?

Spiritual thought:
Sunday we watched an amazing Mormon message about the scriptures.  I just cried my eyes out!  My whole life, I have taken the scriptures for granted. I never read them regularly.  I always came up with an excuse “oh theyre so boring.” “Theyre hard to understand” “well I’ve never had the habit of reading them before so why start now.” “I’m too tired.”  Ugh. The old sister rowntree annoys myself!!  The scritpures are the word of God.  It’s the way Heavenly Father answers our prayers.  William Tittle was stranggled because he translated the bible into englsh,  Mormoni was in hiding to perserve the golden plates, can we talk bout the effort the prophets of old had to go through to even write on the gold plates??  Holy cow the process was so long!!  (this is why I was born in this dispensation cuz I would be too lazy)  but they knew how important the scriptures were for their children, for God’s children, and for us thousands of years later. My heartwas so touched, there was regreat that I felt, for not being the best example to my nonmember friends and sibblings..  The mission is literally changing my life,  I know I cant be the sasme person with the same bad habuts when I get home.  This gospel is real.  And it is hard work beieng a disciple of the Lord in this day, but it is worth it, and we owe Jesus Christ everything in our life.  Because he gave his life for us.  The scriptures are so precious, they really will (especially the Book of Mormon) answer the questions of your soul.  I know that through the Book of Mormon we will be able to listen to the Holy Ghost, withstand temptation and become closer to our Savior.  The Restored Gospel is such a blessing in my life.  What a wonderful time to live, even though the world is gong to absolute crap, we live with the LIVING GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST!  That’s amazing!  So often we forget where we come ffrom and what our purpose is.  Alma 40:11 our purpose is to prepare ourselves to meet God.  To become like Him.  And I kow it is only through His beloved son whom I love very verey much.  I am not a perfect person, no way jose,  and that’s exactly why I need my Saivor to carry me along the way home to Heavenly Father, I cant do this without Him by my side.  come unto Him.  He is the Way, He is the Light andHe loves you.  I am so happy,  I hope your lives can bee touched by the scriptures too, I hope you all will ask yourslef what is keeping you from fulling converting to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, just let it go, I’ts not worth it,  Eternal Salvation with our Families is, and all w’ere asked to do is Follow Jesus Christ.
I'm grateful for this opportunity to serve, thank you all for the love and support.  Have a good week yall!(:

It's the final countdown!

okay.
1.  I HIT MY 9 MONTH MARK IN 2 DAYS WHAT IN THE WORLD I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!!  time literally FLIES.  so yes.  it's the final countdown for me and sister ratunuman to eat everythign we can before we start Sister rowntree's 9 months to fabulous hahaha.  we usually wake up at 6:30 as usual and we excersise.  but on the 26th until forever we're going to wake up at 6 and we are gonna WORK IT!!  usually for breakfast we eat really bad... haha..... like... i cant cook here, our stove had been broken for like 3 weeks anyways so we couldnt make our instant mie (ramen)  ((we shouldnt be eating that for breakfast anways..)  so we eat rolls,  or this guy comes by our house selling fried food and yummy pastery indonesiany thingys.... so not good ahhahaha but theyre delicious.  NO MORE.  we are gonna boil eggs (we fixed the stove)  and make oatmeal (yes they have quakers, its expensive)  and we will use the weird indonesian milk that they sell hahaha.  the milk is like powder and then i think they use water or something and pt it in a containeer, it's clean, but like, its not real milk, i think my bones are withering away. but its coconut flavored so its really good!
2.  Our miracle contact came to church again, there was a baptism,, she cdame and watched, she said she felt the spirit,  but... she says, she watnts the spirit to speak to her  i thnk shes expecting like, the buring bush that moses saw... -___- she has an interview for thrusday or frieday please pray for her.  i knw she knows she needs to get baptized.
3. I can handle rejection now.  i used to get so sad, and lose hope,  we met this way cute family, they are not christian.  yesterday we show up and the moms like, i'm sorry but theres no way 'm going to come to your church, we have our own beliefs, which is fine, but hten she asked, what even is your message?  (holding the plan of salvation pamflet which was her homeowkr)  so we started with a prayer.    even tho she rejected us, we were able to teach up until the atonement of jesus christ.   every time we teach about christ ad what he did for us the spirit is so strong.  so so strong.  we just open our months and speak of truth, and the spirit does the rest,  i know that no effort is wasted maybe in a year or 3 years or 10 she will see missionaries again and remember what she felt from her lesson with me and sister ratunuman and she'll wonder... i wonder what the rest of the lesson was like, whats the end?    There is no end, there's eternal life with our families and I know it's only through Jesus Christ we can be happy.
I know that Christ lives,  i know his church was restored through the prophet joseph smith, I know that President Thomas S. Monson is Gods living prophet today.  What a beautiful time to be alive, to live in the dispensation of fulness of times.  I am so grateful to be here. I've learned so much on the mission... and i have sooooo much more to learn, i can feel myself changing, and I hope I am becoming the person Heavenly Father wants me to be.  Remember, when times get tough, when you feel lke giving up, remember He's been there before. YOur Savior has felt everything.  He's waiting, and reaching out for you.   Have a nice week, try to serve someone today, forget about yourself, you will feel better I promise!
Love Sister Rowntree

Asalamalaikum.

I really don't know what to say in this email, i've tried to think hard, it's been a usual week.  we have found 7 new investigators, one family that's not christian are allowing us to teach them the plan of salvation!!  It's so cool to learn about their religion too, i've learned so many new arabic words this week.
alhamduillah - giving thanks to god.
subhallah- you say it when you see something pretty like something pretty in nature
asalamalaikum - greetings
wa'alaikumsalam- you say back ^
SO COOL i love the culture here, the people are just beautiful.
did i tell you guys that i gave a talk last sunday? my first one in indonesia.  I talked too long and poor elder nordwald couldnt give his lol whoops. but he gave one yesterday it was great.
oh also, i want to update yall on our most progressing investigator... the MIRACLE CONTACT taht we had our first week in malang after jakarrta when we were lost and we couldnt find her and find her, from yesterday, she has gone to church for a month!!  it's so great!!  we have really seen a change in her and she herself said that she's changed. we had a lesson with a member who was also a convert and our investigator said this,  "yeah, when the sisters first got here, i was hard on them like, who is this joseph smith, what is this book of mormon."  me and sister ratu looked at each other like... UHHH YA YOU WERE hahahaha  and then she said, "but the spirit told me to give the book a chance.  "  i asked her before if she beleived the book of mormon was true, and she said, "yes why do you keep asking me that???  and joseph smith wouldnt of been able to translate it if he wasnt insprired by god!"  I'm not asking her again ahahahah i think she has a testimony, i just wanted to make sure, but her heart really has softened!  we are really trying to push her to be bpatized at the end of this month.... but she keeps saying she hasnt gotten her answer yet, please pray for her, i know she is ready.  oh yeah, she's finally calling Allah (god), Bapa Surgawi (Heavenly Father)  ((':
we had such a miracle on sunday.  Our investigator who is not christian CAME. TO. CHURHC.  i literally cried, we were waitin goutside the church waiting for our miracle contact investigator to come. the meeting had already started...  and we looked and saw this cute lady wearing her hiljab walk past and look through the gate... we looked again adn we're like OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! and we ran as fast as we could to give her a hug and welcome her into church.. she was soooooo nervous, we had to sit outside for like 3 minutes trying to get her to come into the sacrament room.  i dont blame her! she's never been to church before!  but she said she had fun, and i know little by little she will start building her faith in our savior!
I wish i had more to say!  I know this church is true, i know that it was restored through the prophet joseph smith.  He went through so much for us, I am so grateful for the restoration, for the knowledge that my family can be together forever, I'm so grateful for my savior.  I now he died for me,  I know he's always with me, I love my heavenly father so very much, and i know he's so very aware of each of his children.  I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve god's beautiful children here in malang.  I'm learning so much everyday. have a great week!

777 (mom's note: I have no clue what she meant by this)

HALLO KELUARGAKU DAN TEMANKU KABARNYAAA?

SHOUT OUT TO THE BEST MOM EVER HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOOOM

I can't believe it's PDAY again... this last week FLEW BY literally
flew by.  It's been so fun and tiring and awesome and we've had some
miracles

1.  monday we went and eat cobra and drank blood again ahahhahha 2
times the charm, and we went to this cool hindu temple.  IT WAS LIKE 5
MILES AWAY THO, AND WE HAD TO FOLLOW THE ELDERS AND THE ELDERS SPRINT
LIKE IT'S CHRISTMAS AND I STILL HAVENT RECOVERED.

2. WE GOT NEW BIKES!!!!  thank goodness,  thats why i died going to
the hindu temple cuz our bikes we're awful,  so me and sister
ratunuman have come up with new songs to show our gratitude for
beautiful new bikes.  "I've got sunshiiinnne on a cloudy dayyy, when
it's cold out sideeee blah blah blahh... i.... guess.... you'd...
say.,... something something feel this way, MY BIKE.  MY BIKE MY
BIKEEE, TAlking bout... MY BIIIIKKEEE"
Also.
"You see us rollin.... we preachin..... proclaiming the gospel of
Jesus Christ"  (just imagine us all sweaty on sweet beautiful bikes,
wearing sunglasses or something rapping)
also,  "There;s always gonna be another mountain, i'm always goinna
wanna make it mooove, always gonan be an uphill battle etc......  it's
my bIIIIKKKKKKEEEE"
we are so funny.  you just had to be there.

3. last week i forgot to share this story,  one day,  i was like, ugh.
i love pangsit mie, it's os good (this noodle stuff)  i could eat it 3
times a day.  little did i know WE LITERALLY WERE FORCED TO EAT IT
LIKE 4 TIMES THAT DAY  every person we visited fed us pangsit mie we
were STUFFED.  i think i gained 2 kilos that day wadu.

4. our miracle contact from a month ago, who's been coming to
church.... 1. came to chruch again by herself, and 2. WE INVITED HER
TO BE BAPTIZEd!!!!  so she's like, ya. ya. if i get an answer to my
prayer.  i already know she has an answer but hse wants to be sure,
the next time we saw her shes like.  "last night, iwoke up in the
middle of the night and openeed the book of mormon to alma,  it was
talking about baptism."  sister ratu and i just looked at her like..
girlfriend.  HELLO THATS YOUR ANSWER hahaha , it's okay it's all in
the lords time i know the spirit will tel lher this message is true.

5.  We are still teaching our ibu who is not Christian.  we watched
finding faith in christ with her,  it was so amazing. it was literally
the first time she'd seen christ perform his miracles and actually
have an idea of what he looked like how he walked and talked and
taught and how amazing He was.  When he first came on the screen,
she's like "siapa."  (who is that?)  we told her it was Jesus Christ,
"Oh, gantang ya?"  (he's handsome ya?) ahahahha it was so funny,  but
the best was after we finsihed the movie.  she said "why did jesus
have to be cruciefied? why couldn't he save himself??  if he's god, if
he's powerful why couldn't he help himself?"  sister ratunuman had
the most perfect answer.  "He could've saved himself, he is powerful,
he is the son of god.  but we needed someone to save us."  my heart
has been so touched this week, the spirit was so strong and i hope ibu
felt something and she will start to develope faith in ehr savior. <3

Last thing,  Sister Ratunuman pointed something out to me the other
day that I want to share iwth yall.  President monson is aging, he
can only speak for a few minutes at a time in conference.  we dont
know if last conference was his last! and what he wanted to share to
the world was about the power of the book of mormon.  he promises we
will be able to overcome temptations, we will come closer to jesus
christ, if we read the book of mormon.  a prophet of god testified of
the importance to read it everyday. i invite you all to read just a
little of the book of mormon every day. i know it will change your
life.  when we asked our miracle contact if she knew the book of
mormon was true she said, "of course it's the word of god, this book
wouldn't have changed my life if it wasnt." isn't that powerful?  I
know it's true,  and i'm so grateful for this gospel.  I am so
grateful for the restoration, i know joseph smith is a prophet of god,
called to restore all things for us, i know christ is the son of god
and this is his church and it is only through his church that we can
return to Heavenly father.  I love you all, have a great week!

-Sister Rowntree

Don't cry, it'll be alright...

yes.  Sister Rowntree has seen Harry Styles new music video.
IT PLAYS EVERYDAY IN THE INDOMARET'S HERE!!!! (convienent store)  IT'S BEAUTIFUL, HE'S SO GLORIOUS FLYING IN THE AREA OH MY GOODNESS. the first time i saw it, i think sister rowntree left me, and fan girl Hannah came back. it was bad.  i swear i'm still spiritual (;
WOAH HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA. i really miss barbaque.  oh ya.  Sister Ratunuman and I are letting go until I hit my half way mark on the 26th.  So then we will start our 9 months to fabulous. usually missionaries do 6 months to fab, but i've let myself go.... way too much... hahah so when i hit 9 months (which is insane i still feel new)  NO MORE RICE OR MIE OR BREAD, and we are gonna exercise SO HARD.  until we are fabulouuusss.

We worked SO HARD this week! Missionary work is the hardest, most humbling and rewarding experience.  We had 3 investigators come to church this week!!!!!!  i've never had that happen before on the mish,  getting our miracle contact to church was soooo crazy, we had to ask someone last minute to follow us to her house (which is like 10 minutes by motorcycle,) but we are on bikes!  SO WE SPED WITH ALL OF OUR MIGHT TO GET TO HER SO WE WERENT LATE FOR CHURCH. she wasnt late, we were late.  and thus DRENCHED IN SWEAT for sacrament meeting, wadu.  hopefully this week it will go more smoothly hahaha
one of our investigators that came is new, we've only taught her twice, she is a doll, she's going to jakarta for a week so hopefully in 2 weeks we will teach her again.  our last lesson with her ended in laughter.  so, it's fast sunday ya?  sister ratu and i had to start our fast at like 1:30 saturday before our appointment with her at 2.  so we go to indomaret (no there was no harry styles to distract me, thank goodness) and we DOWN LIKE 3 WATER BOTTLES,  it's hot in Indonesia we gotta survive here.  then, we have our lesson, and our investigator brought some little mint candies for us, so not even thinking sister ratu and i start snacking on them.......  at the end of the lesson we're like "woah, does anybody know hwere i bathroom is we have to pee so bad!!!"  (we had 2 members present at the lesson both RM's)  they're like, "uhhh w'ere not sure"  "why do you have to pee so bad??"  literally in the middle of the sentence sister rat goes, "we have to pee so bad bc we drank so much water cuz we're-" *dramatic pause* we both dropped our mints and looked at each other with wide eyes with candy all up in our teeth,  "FASTING!!!!!!!!!"  we literally dropped to the ground and died laughing oh my goodness you just had to be there maybe this isnt funny to yall but it was hilarious i alsmot peed my pants!!!!  one of the RM's was like "wow.. the struggle of being a missionary.." ahahhahaha  ohhh my goondess, I lvoe my companion so much she's the best.
I've learned a lot about gratitude this week. In america, espceially in utah, i really took the gospel for granted.  Like, my church is literally 45 seconds away by car........ and i would always come up with excuses to not go to church like, oh, i'm tired, oh i'm sick,  oh i'm lazy.....  the people here, some people literally dont have enough money to get to church!  they sacrifice EVERYTHING to be able to partake of the sacrment.  It's so easy to forget what we have and not appreciate it.....
I was reading about the atonement this morning too.  I just want to cry thinking about how much our savior loves us, he loves us perfectly, and we cant do anything without him.  We are so imperfect, but he's always ready to help us come back to him.  How do you show your Gratitude for the atonement?    I hope by serving the lord's mission here in indonesia will show heavenly father how mjuch i love him and how grateful i am that he "so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son".   This gospel is true.
I know Christ lives, and i know He speaks to us through a living prophet.  OH YA.  we have a new investigator he is 9 years old,  and he asked us, "how do we follwo Jesus? Through an angel? or a prophet?"   we gave him the answer, we asked him if he believes Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet to day. he said "SERIBU PERSEN!"  Which means 1000% percent!  isn't it Christ that tells us to humble ourselves and become like children?  Meek, submissive, humble, patient and full of love?  This little child is so innocent and pure, and his honest desire to want to follow Jesus touched my heart.  I hope we all will have that desire like him. Christ has done is part for us, all he asks us to do is to follow him.  and we can do that by living the restored gospel of jesus christ.  Wow.  I love my Savior and I love Heavenly Father, and I'm so grateful for the mission, I'm learning so much here and I couldn't be happier.  Have a nice week! (:
